Designed by the man who built Abbey Road's studios
“The resolution of a device is limited by the quality of its reference voltage or ground.” — Michael Whiteside
01
Built for Abbey Road itself
Studio Connections' CEO, Michael Whiteside, personally installed several of the main studios at EMI Abbey Road and specifically developed the now-renowned "Abbey Road Cable" for that work — a cable still available today.
02
From studio to living room
Whiteside also built the recording facilities at King's College, Cambridge, and led technical services for Harman International and TEAC in the UK before evolving the original Abbey Road designs into the Reference series and the acclaimed Carbon Screened Power cable.
03
BLACK STAR — the finest cable system yet
Studio Connections' work in recording, theatre and home cabling is regarded globally as exemplary. BLACK STAR, the brand's newest and most outstanding range, has already found a place in home systems, live theatre rigs and recording studio installations worldwide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Studio Connections' connection to Abbey Road?+
Founder Michael Whiteside personally installed several of the main studios at EMI Abbey Road, and developed the original "Abbey Road Cable" specifically for that work. It's still part of the range today, alongside the ranges he's developed since — Reference, Carbon Screened Power and BLACK STAR.
Why would a power cable make a difference to my system's sound?+
A power cable can't change what the power station supplies, but it can influence how cleanly and consistently that power reaches your equipment — reducing electrical noise, interference and unwanted resonance for a more stable connection between components.
What makes BLACK STAR different from a normal cable range?+
Beyond carrying signal and power, BLACK STAR is designed so every cable type in the system contributes to one coherent, low-noise grounding scheme — so all your components share a stable platform and "sing as one" rather than fighting each other's resonances and earth loops.
