Nearly 50 years of development
Phonar's story began in 1976 as Scan Akustik in Tarp, northern Germany, building speakers for well-known consumer electronics brands. In 1983, founder Klaus Henningsen launched Phonar Akustik GmbH as an independent brand in its own right.
02
A family business, still in Tarp
Now run by Kai Henningsen, the company operates from its original grounds in Tarp with around 15 employees across 5,000 sqm — exporting to many European countries, with a foreign sales share of around 40%.
